From print to digital.
I started in newspapers in college. Working as a stringer for the Athens News taught me so much about deadlines, how to handle editorial criticism and overcome and minimize mistakes. I am always appreciative of longtime editor Terry Smith for enduring the pain of having to read those early copies of mine. Forever indebted.
Those experiences prepared me for my first full-time newspaper gig at a newspaper in Florida. The daily grind of pumping out content matched with the expectation of perfection helped build, stretch and grow.
Then I went to digital, working as a content editor at an NPR/PBS station in Ohio. In this capacity I learned an entirely different approach to journalism. From incorporating social media and breaking online news to how to handle corrections, the digital journalism world used everything I had learned in newspapers and took it to the next level. Iām an advocate for both.
