I’m a multi-platform journalist based in Hawai’i. My experience ranges from long and short-form reporting to print, digital, radio, and television news coverage. In Hawai’i, I’ve worked for local media outlets such as the Hawaii Tribune-Herald, West Hawaii Today, Honolulu Star-Advertiser, and contributed to publications such as Hawaii Magazine, Hana Hou, and Ke Ola Magazine.
As a staff writer, I’ve covered a wide-range of topics including local and state politics, environmental affairs, Native Hawaiian issues, travel, tourism, and education. Prior to moving to the Pacific, my journalism career began under the guidance of various mentors. 2010 graduate of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University, where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Magazine Journalism. During and after college, I worked as a reporter for The Athens NEWS and was later hired as a digital content editor for the local NPR/PBS station WOUB Public Media. At WOUB, I oversaw more than a dozen journalists and was responsible for critiquing stories, managing beats, and investigating new story ideas for the station covering 55 counties in Ohio, West Virginia, and Kentucky.
As an editor and writer, I’m in charge of making sure all content follows AP, radio, and broadcast style formats. Using multiple outlets to report is a passion of mine, and I see the value in using as many tools as available to tell a story. Whether I’m writing a compelling feature or an investigative piece, I focus on using the fundamentals of storytelling to engage my audience, and always strive to be fair, accurate, and honest.
I am currently a resident on the island of Maui, where I focus on stories centered around peace and conflict resolution practices in indigenous cultures in the Pacific.
